Sankalp volunteers would be happy to describe themselves as such. the first ever Sankalp Volunteer's Review was a major step in ensuring that the organisation is true to the above statement.
It has been 7 years since the spirit of Sankalp was born, and like every year we would love to share the joy with our dearest friends and well wishers.

Karnataka wide expansion of helpline and the networking with the blood banks outside Bangalore has given rise the newer dimension of organizing Team Red training and Drives outside Bangalore. In the previous month of March, there were 2 drives in Raichur in this regard. About 97 units were collected. The drives were organized after conducting Team Red training in 5 colleges of Raichur in which 60 students participated.

Gearing up for Summers 2010
With the summers around the corner, Sankalp has kicked started the process of putting 4 major events in place. This means a lot of action, a lot of interaction and a lot of progress. Outlined are the four activities below:
This month indicates the rising trend of number of blood requests as the summer approaches. In the three weeks of February, there were about 25 blood requests, which included 3 requests inside Karnataka, 1 request for Single Donor Platelet donation and 2 outside Karnataka. Internal structuring of donor databases has started to maintain a single updated database of all the registered donors with Sankalp. Along with the existing database, an updated database from MSRIT Boys Hostel will be maintained for the same.
Sankalp is a voluntary organisation in an absolute sense. Everyone here works because they want to work.
Sankalp volunteers are a mixed blend of college students and professionals. All of them work for Sankalp beyond the regular work that they do for a living/learning.

Davangere, Bellary and Kolar have had talks relating the drives to be conducted in regular intervals in many colleges this month. Sankalp participated as an observer in a district level meeting of officials to schedule Blood Donation drives in Bellary.
Rakta Kranti Companies: Two companies have yet again helped in spreading the message of voluntary blood donation.
Having organized a drive for the first time @ HSBC, the response by the employees was very good. It was conducted over a period of two days where about 196 units were collected. Both the days the drive went on in a well organized manner.

Most of last month, the priority was our upcoming 6th Anniversary. The volunteers worked hard and spent ample amount of thought, time and energy to putting up a good show (like they say, citation required :) ). But we made sure none of our regular work suffers because of the Anniversary preparation. what was keeping us occupied?
